A powerful idea for a powerful new machine.

I was the creative director on HP Personal Services Group (think hardware) at 215/McCann, and because it was a retail-centric piece of business, we made a lot of ads. Like more ads per week than some companies make in a year. Or a decade.

I don’t show too much work from that time because technology changes fast, and over time, the ads end up looking a little dated. But I always liked this case study we did for Folio.

The premise behind it was simple: It seemed like every year another computer maker would introduce a machine that was supposed to change the world. They’d get thinner and lighter. With sleeker designs and more powerful processors. But despite the advancements, the average computer battery hadn’t evolved to last more than a couple hours on one charge.

For the average person, it wasn’t a big deal. But for the business traveler who depended on finding power to work on the road, it was a real problem. This campaign addressed the issue with a 360 idea to help launch HP’s new Folio: The Ultrabook made for business.
